Blessings and Curses Part 4 of 4

Yet, you might ask, is there still hope for us? Yes, there is! I would like you to read the last section of Leviticus 26 again and really think about what Yahweh is saying here. It is truly beautiful!! Listen to what will happen if we would only confess our sin and turn back to our loving Heavenly Father!

40 If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;

41 And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:

42 Then will I…

So what do we have to do? We have to confess that we have sinned, that our fathers have sinned, that we have walked contrary to Him and that because we have walked contrary to Yahweh, we need to acknowledge that He has done the same, we have to acknowledge that because of our sins, Yahweh has brought us to the land of our enemies, but it doesn’t stop there. We have to humble our hearts and ACCEPT the punishment of our sins. Then and only then does Yahweh saysl…

42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

43 The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.

He explains that even though we have despised his judgments and we have abhorred his statutes and that is why we must accept our punishment, but then He goes on to say,

44 And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am Yahweh their God.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about a merciful and loving God!!!!!!!!!!! Girls, listen to what Yahweh just said!! He just said that even though He knows we have done so much against Him and He knows that we must go through our punishment because of those sins, YET FOR ALL THAT (for all our sins), I will not cast them away, neither abhor them! WOW! Talk about getting what we didn’t deserve! Yes, we truly do serve a merciful and a loving God!

He goes on to say,

45 But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am Yahweh.

46 These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which Yahweh made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.

Now the question comes down to, will we confess? Will we accept? And will we turn back to Yahweh, so that He might be our God? Girls, this chapter is so beautiful. Study it. Take it all in. Think about it. Ponder it. Meditate upon its truths. Pray about it. Don’t just look at the blessings, look at the curses. Think about both, but realize that if you don’t do the requirements, you will get the latter. Understand why America is being judged and why we as individuals are being judged. Understand that we serve a King and a Judge, too. Fear Him as King, because we know that as King, He will be passing out the judgments for our disobedience. But realize that when we repent and accept our punishment, that Yahweh promises us something that we truly do not deserve…His love, His grace, His mercy. THIS is what grace is. It doesn’t mean that we won’t get corrected for the sins that we have already committed, for we will. But we won’t get what we deserve, and that being an eternity in hell. Grace doesn’t mean that we can go and live a life of sin and Yahweh will turn His face from it all. It means that when we truly repent and humble ourselves, He will be gracious and merciful, not giving us what we truly deserve…eternity in hell.

Blessings and Curses Part 3 of 4

I briefly went over the blessings and the requirements to get them. You can read about the blessings in verses 4-13. But what I really want to dwell on, is the opposite of what most people dwell on. No one really likes to think about curses, but I think it is high time we begin. We need to know what our disobedience will bring upon us! What happens when we disobey Yahweh? Does He forgive and forget? Doesn’t He have a “multitude of tender mercies”? (Psalms 51) What about His grace? Isn’t He a gracious and loving God, full of compassion?

I can heartily tell you that all the above is true. He is a loving, gracious, and merciful God. But the truth is that He is also a jealous God and one that will judge and correct us for our sins! He does not sit on His throne of righteousness and turn His face away from our sins! This whole “grace, grace” movement is SO wrong! Yahweh said to “fear” Him! Why? Because He will judge us for our sins! Just like we should fear our earthly king if we murder someone, knowing the just punishment that will follow, we need to fear the living God, too! Oh, yes, He is gracious and merciful. If He wasn’t, we’d all be thrown into a hell to burn for an eternity, for that is truly what we deserve. We don’t deserve anything else. But that doesn’t mean that Yahweh sits on His thrown and reins with a soft hand, ignoring all of our sins. In fact, if He didn’t judge us for our sins, He says that it would mean that we are either 1) not His or 2) He doesn’t love us. Correction comes because of His love for us, not vice versa. He cares more for our eternal souls, than for our comfort here on earth and we must remember that. Don’t get caught up and think that you can “be His” and “live your life in sin” and get away with it, for my dear precious girls, you will not! Take heed to what He says.

Now, let’s get into His word and find out what He will do when we despise, reject and abhor his law.

Yahweh spent verse 4-13 going over the blessings that we would get if we obeyed and they truly are blessings! Then in verses 14-39 He goes over all the curses, with each one getting worse and worse. Why? He explains why they keep getting worse in verses 18, 22, 24 and 28. Let’s read what it says:

18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

21 And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.

24 Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.

28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.

Does Yahweh take our sin seriously? Oh yes, He most certainly does!! He gives us a list of sins, then says if we still won’t listen and hearken to him, he will make the curses 7 TIMES worse! He says that FOUR times! That means that by the end of the chapter, the curses are 28 TIMES worse than the first curses! He wants us to repent and turn back to Him. This is how much He cares for us! He does not want us to lose our souls, He cares way too much for that! You see, by Him correcting us and making us really uncomfortable, He brings us to (or is hoping to bring us to!) a repenting heart.

There are two main curses that I would like to bring out, as this subject is very dear to my heart. Listen to the blessing, then listen to the curses. Which one are we?

9 For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.

The blessing of His respect = making fruitful and multiplying us! What a testimony! Children truly are one of His greatest blessings…why? Because children are ETERNAL! He is entrusting us with ETERNAL souls!

But look at the curse that follows if we don’t obey Him.

22 I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children…

29 And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

Have you ever thought about these two curses? I honestly don’t believe those “wild beasts” are literally wild animals, although they may be. But think about this in a little different light. What else are “wild beasts” who are robbing us of our children? Social services anyone? If anyone has robbed us of our children, it is them. Yet, didn’t Yahweh say that He would send wild beast that would do just that?

But that isn’t all. If we still don’t repent, Yahweh said we would end up eating the flesh of our own children! You say that this would NEVER happen, but I want you to look around you, because yes, it would and DOES happen ALL the time! My girls, we are now eating the flesh of our sons and daughters in the form of aborted babies! Oh yes, you read that right! Girls, they are putting aborted babies in just about everything! They are in pills (read the news, it was just on it not too long ago), they are in conditioners, lotions, etc. There are actually places that will buy your babies from you through abortion, because there is that kind of market for them, and that is plain sick. Yet, what did Yahweh say would one day happen if we continued to reject His law? He said that He would first take our children away from us, but if that didn’t turn us, He would make it so that we would one day eat their precious flesh and what is happening? We can see the downward slope. First it was that we looked at Him having respect unto us and being fruitful and multiplying us as a great curse, so we started limiting the number of eternal souls that we allowed Him to bring into the world. Then we started having our children being robbed of us, and now we’re actually eating their flesh, and most of the time, we never even know that we are doing it.

So let me ask you again, do these curses apply to us today? Are they taking place in our own lives? They most certainly do and are! We can go through curse after curse and see how Yahweh has brought this nation under one curse after another, all because of our sin. We used to be one truly blessed people, but not anymore. We are being judged for our sins. We are being judged as individuals for our sins, and as a nation for our sins, because we as the people, are walking contrary to Yahweh’s word and law. Yahweh is trying to bring us back to Him and the curses are getting worse and worse because we are refusing to come back to Him. We have made ourselves our own gods, doing what we want to and therefore do not listen to the Living and True God any longer. Girls, this is a serious problem. When will we turn back to Him? When will we turn back to our Lover? It’s up to us. We have a choice…to continue in our sin, or to repent and turn. Which will it be?

Blessings and Curses Part 2 of 4

My precious girls, did you see something so amazing in this chapter? Yahweh gave us clear guidance…if you do this, I will do this. All throughout this chapter Yahweh gave the action that we could take or not take and the results of those actions.

I know of a lot of people dwell on the beginning part of the chapter, because what it describes, we want. We want and desire those blessings! Yet so many skip over the requirements for those blessings! We somehow sadly think that we can still get those blessings, if we don’t fulfill the requirements that He stated had to take place, if we were going to get those blessings listed afterwards. Go back and read what those requirements were.

Leviticus 26:1-4 says,

1 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am Yahweh your God.

2 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am Yahweh.

3 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;

4 Then I will give you…

Now I’d like to ask you, do you keep all his statutes and commandments? Read a bit farther down in the chapter before the curses and you will see Him explain what we were supposed to be keeping in greater detail.

14 But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do ALL these commandments;

15 And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:

16 I also will do…. (emphasis added)

Do we despise his law or statutes? Despise means to scorn; regard with contempt, to dislike intensely; loathe etc. Remember, He is talking about all of His laws/commandments. Are there ANY commandment that you dislike, loathe, scorn etc? What about the clean and unclean laws? What about the food laws? The sacrificial laws? Girls, he isn’t saying “do you despise or loathe the fact that I said you can’t murder your neighbor”? He is talking about doing ALL of his commandments and said that if we start to despise or reject one of his laws, we will not keep it and really, how true is that? I could list a whole bunch that people started to despise and show you that sooner or later, they also started to break those very commands.

Yahweh said that “so a man thinks, that he will also do”. What we think and feel, comes before our actions. Is our heart pure towards Him? Where do we stand with His law? Do we delight in it, as Psalms 1 says we’re supposed to? Or do we despise or hate it and think His law is a burden? Remember what he says in 1 John. 1John 5:2-3 “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous (burdensome).”

What about abhorring His law? Abhor means to regard with disgust and hatred; to detest; loathe etc. Yahweh says that if we do any of these, it will make us so that we will not do all His commandments and thus break His covenant. Girls, this is serious!

I can hear you now, “we would NEVER despise or hate or abhor Yahweh’s word!” Yet don’t we? Oh, we love the verses that talk about not murdering, the verses about loving our neighbors as ourselves, the verses about God’s loving-kindnesses and tender mercies, and oh, how we love the verses that talk about His saving grace! Oh, how we love some verse!!!

Yet, my precious girls, what about the rest of His word? What about His laws, His statutes, His judgments, and His precepts? Do you abhor that part? Do you despise that part?

Let me ask you a question. What’s the opposite of abhor? Is it not to admire, love and respect…to hold in high esteem? And if we truly loved, we’d also keep it. If we truly held it in a high esteem, we’d keep it. If we admired it, we’d keep it. Yet do we? Because my dear precious girls, we can not have these blessings, unless we do! Yahweh placed a requirement before those blessings. We can not get those blessings and have His blessings fall upon us, if we do not keep His law. Remember that.

Blessings and Curses Part 1 of 4

Recently I’ve been going through the book of Leviticus and yesterday I went through chapter 26. How many of you know what Leviticus 26 is talking about? It’s known as the blessing and cursing chapter. Yahweh goes through the entire first part of the chapter saying “do this and you will get this blessing”. This is the side that I am most familiar with, as it’s the part of the chapter that most people will quote. But what I found the most interesting and thought provoking, wasn’t the blessing part of the chapter, but was all the curses and what happens if we don’t obey His word. This is the part I would like to spend the most amount of time on. We’ll go over both sides of the coin, but I will be spending more time on the latter part of the chapter.

But before we begin, let’s read the entire chapter for context.

Leviticus 26:1-46

Requirements that we were told we would have to do:

1 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am Yahweh your God.

2 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am Yahweh.

3 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;

The blessings if we were obedient:

4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

5 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

6 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.

7 And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.

8 And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

9 For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.

10 And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.

11 And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you.

12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.

13 I am Yahweh your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.

The prerequisites that came before the curses:

14 But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments;

15 And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:

The curses if we get fir our disobedient:

16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

17 And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.

18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:

20 And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.

21 And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.

22 I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate.

23 And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me;

24 Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.

25 And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

26 And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.

27 And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;

28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.

29 And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.

31 And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours.

32 And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.

33 And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.

The results of that the curses will bring:

34 Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies’ land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths.

35 As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.

36 And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.

37 And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.

38 And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.

39 And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.

Acknowledging our sins:

40 If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;

41 And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:

The results of repenting:

42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

43 The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.

44 And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am Yahweh their God.

Q & A’s: Shirts

I’ve thought about bloomers, but never found a good pattern or a good price for the actual things themselves. What about writing on shirts? Your opinion of that?

This question came from a precious reader and what a good question to think about…what about shirts? Which ones are and which ones aren’t modest?

There are a couple of rules that I have laid down for myself concerning shirts, based on what I believe the scripture teaches concerning modesty. Let’s go over a couple of those verses that I believe pertain to our topic this morning. These verses are translated from Hebrew, with the KJV in the [ ]‘s.

Isaiah 20:2 “In her time spoke Yahweh in the hand of Isaiah the son of Amoz, to say, You go and loose the sackcloth from upon your waist [loins], and your sandal [shoe] you shall put off from upon your feet. And he did so, going naked and barefoot.

Showing off our waist is considered “naked”, therefore it is wrong.

Exodus 28:42
42 “And you shall make for them linen breeches to cover the flesh of their nakedness; from the waists [loins] and unto the thighs they shall be:”

If showing the waists of Aaron and his sons was considered naked, the same applies to us, as there is no difference between the guys nakedness and what needs to be covered, or us ladies. Nakedness is nakedness and therefore, it needs to be covered.

This is why I believe that we are not to show off our waist in anyway.

Isaiah 52:9-10 You burst forth, you be jubilant together, deserted places of Jerusalem: because Yahweh comforts his people, he redeems Jerusalem. Yahweh bares the arm of his holiness to the eyes of all the nations; and all the limits of the earth see the salvation of our God. S”

Isaiah 53:1 ”Who believes our report? And the arm of Yahweh upon whom is revealed?

This is why we wear long-sleeves, as for Yahweh to say that he revealed his arm during these things, it seemed to imply that He didn’t usually reveal it, and as we are to “walk as He walked”, we choose to not reveal our arm, unless our work requires it.

I believe that there is a trend going on right now that I don’t think is modest. It seems like shirts are getting tighter and tighter, revealing more and more of our bodily form, but they are also getting extremely low and at the same time, short, showing off our waist if we bend or move, which we can see in the scriptures above, is wrong. To cover one’s nakedness is more than just covering it with a piece of cloth, but showing off everything just the same. To cover, means to hide. People shouldn’t be able to see every nook and cranny. Yahweh says in 1 Timothy 2:9-10, “In like manner also, women in fashion shall be modest of dress, in bashfulness, and in modesty shall be their adornment; not in braiding and in gold, or in pearls, or in lovely robes; But in good works, just as is suitable for women that profess to worship God.” We must be modest in our dress, as well as our actions and hearts.

Here are my rules for what shirts I will or will not wear.

I believe the shirts must cover all the way to the neck (I use my collarbone as a guideline), and must also cover my waist, and arms. I don’t wear anything tight, for the same reason. I want to be modest in all areas.

But, you might ask, what do you do with shirts that come up, even when you try to get long enough ones that they wouldn’t? What happens when you play a game like volleyball or bend over to pick something up? Regardless as to which type shirt you have on, it always seem to ride up, revealing our waist/stomach/back etc. at some point in our daily activities. Here is what I do (and girls, even the longer shirts seem to do this at times, so be careful!).

I always, always, always, wear something underneath my shirts. I either wear a longer tank top that can be tucked in ( I don’t tuck my shirts in, as I’m a very short waisted person so it just looks really funny when I do). This way, if by any chance my shirt comes up doing some activity, I’m always covered.

Then for necklines that may slide forward or open (even some of the closest necklines can gap open if bent over), I usually will pin these to my tank tops or bra straps on my shoulder. This keeps them in place, so no sliding from side to side revealing bra straps, and no gaping open, revealing our nakedness.

Note here: Girls, remember, to cover means to COVER. See-through clothing, revealing your under clothing, is wrong and is NOT being covered! If you are wearing light colored shirts, PLEASE make sure that what you are wearing beneath it, covers everything and makes it so that you can no longer see-through it. There is nothing as distracting and distasteful as a believing women walking around showing everything beneath her “shirt”. Covering your nakedness means more than mere see-through fabric which actually covers nothing. Don’t deceive yourself in thinking that this kind of clothing “covers” your nakedness.

For SMALL “v” necklines, I will take another cream colored (or which ever color matches) knit shirt, and sew it in the “v” to fill it in. I will not wear anything with a “v” that is longer than about three or so fingers below my neck, as I believe it just draws attention to an area that I don’t want people’s eyes drawn to. Same goes for necklaces, by the way. Make sure whatever you are wearing draws the attention to your eyes, not your chest.

Regardless if I wear knit shirts or cotton ones, I always make sure that they are not tight, but also not a bag. I like my shirts to have some form, but not revealing or tight. I know some people have taken this to one extreme or another and will be “poured” into their shirts, or they take the other extreme that looks like you could fit numerous people in one shirt. Neither of these do I believe are appropriate for a Godly daughter. Yahweh wants us to pay attention to our looks, just to dwell more on the inward, than the outward. Just be careful not to go to either extreme.

I also try to make sure that if I do raise my arms, my shirts don’t get caught up underneath my breasts. This is very unattractive for a Godly daughter, as well. Be discreet and modest at all times.

I also wear long sleeves for the reason above, but for those of you who don’t have a problem wearing short, again, you must be very careful. Even if you don’t have a problem revealing your arm, sleeves have a tendency to show and reveal everything beneath the shirt. If you can raise your arm and see down your shirt, there’s a problem. Make sure your sleeves are tight against your arm and do not reveal anything you don’t want them to.

A way that I used to do to fix this, is I would put some pleats or elastic at the bottom edge of my shirts. This gave it an added feminine touch, but it also made sure that my sleeves stayed against my arm, regardless as to what I did. I also (when I wore short sleeves) didn’t wear anything much above the top of my elbow. Sleeve lengths seem to be getting shorter and shorter, and really, what’s the reason for this? Is it not to reveal what should be covered? Be careful with what sleeves you allow yourself to wear. Stand in front of a mirror and check to see what is being revealed. Raise your arms. Bend over. Put your arm out and look down through the sleeve in the mirror. Just make sure that regardless as to what shirt you wear, it is:

  1. Modest
  2. Appropriate
  3. Feminine

Don’t look frumpy, and don’t look sensual…look like a godly young lady. People should be able to see a difference between you and the next person down the road. If they can’t tell who you are in Yahweh by the way you dress, there is a huge problem. And girls, dress to draw attention to your eyes, heart, and your Lord, Yahshua. There is nothing like a real lady, dressed modestly and femininely in dress and actions. People are trying to do away with the line and merge masculinity and femininity, making it so that there is neither. This is not of Yahweh. He gave us both and wants us to relish in who He made us to be. Be proud to be a young lady! There is nothing shameful in that and it is truly a beautiful thing! Relish in your femininity!

Before I close, I want to share with you a testimony of dressing modestly, yet femininely. My sisters and I were at a dentist last year, and this man came up to us. We were in a pretty large waiting room, full of people. It was coming nigh to summer, so you can imagine what the dress code was (atleast here in the north, it seems the hotter the weather, the less the clothing). My sisters and I were still in our long, flowing skirts and modest shirts, long hair etc. This older gentleman came up to us and thanked us over and over again for dressing so modestly! He told us it was such a blessing to walk into someplace and see modest young ladies. He also shared how beautiful we were, as well.

We have had numerous men come up to us and tell us this. The men appreciate modesty and femininity! When we are ladies, they step up and be the men that God has called them to be. They greatly appreciate the care we take in dressing and also, in how we carry ourselves. Don’t give them the wrong vision of who you are. Let them know you are a godly daughter and watch how they treat you with respect and love! :-) It’s truly amazing! Even the roughest of men will run to open the door for a true lady (atleast most of the time!). :-)

I hope this helps you in some way. Study the scriptures and find out what it says, then align your dress accordingly. I’m not trying to say that my way of dressing is the only way, but these are the reasons for the standards that I have placed within my own life.

Yahweh bless until next time,

Samantha

A really cute story!

Shirley & Marcy

A mother was concerned about her kindergarten son, Timmy, walking to

school.

He didn’t want his mother to walk with him.

She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence but yet

know that he was safe.

So she had an idea of how to handle it.

She asked a neighbour if she would please follow him to school in the

mornings, staying at a distance, so he probably wouldn’t notice her.

The neighbour said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway,

it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well, so she

agreed.

The next school day, the neighbour and her little girl set out following

behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbour girl he knew.

She did this for the whole week.

As the two walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs, Timmy ‘s little

friend noticed the same lady was following them as she seemed to do every

day all week.

Finally she said to Timmy,

‘Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week? Do you know

her?’

Timmy nonchalantly replied, ‘Yeah, I know who she is.’

The little girl said, ‘Well, who is she?’

‘That’s just Shirley Goodnest ,’ Timmy replied, ‘and her daughter Marcy

…’

‘Shirley Goodnest? Who is she and why is she following us?

‘Well,’ Timmy explained, ‘every night my Mum makes me say the 23rd Psalm

with my prayers, ‘cuz she worries about me so much.

And in the Psalm, it says, ‘Shirley Goodnest (surely goodness) and Marcy

(mercy) shall follow me all the days of my life’, so I guess I’ll just have

to get used to it!’

Yahweh bless you and keep you; Yahweh make His face shine upon you,

and be gracious unto you; Yahweh lift His countenance upon you, and give

you peace.

May Shirley Goodnest and Marcy be with you today and always

Quote & Thought

George Washington had a saying “What is worth doing, is worth doing right” and how true this is! Girls, what you do, “do all to the glory and honor of Yahweh”! Give it your all, even in the small things of life. Remember, something as simple as giving someone a glass of water, Yahweh said you’ve done it to Him.

If it’s worth doing at all, to it right and remember that as you are doing it, it is as if you were doing it for Yahweh Himself! Don’t slack or cut corners. Do your very, very best!

By Whom Will You Be Judged?

Girls, I have some food for your thoughts. =)

It is very easy to get caught up in what others say is right vs wrong; acceptable vs unacceptable; good vs bad; etc.

It is very easy to begin thinking things like “Everybody says its okay, so it must be” or “Everybody else is doing it” or “Those believers do it, say its okay, etc”, and we begin to justify or condemn people, dress, actions, things, etc. simply by what others say or think about them.

We measure our lives and whether or not we are living a believer’s lifestyle by how others around us are living and whether or not they approve or disapprove.

The tug to live according to the approval of those around us and/or those in our assembly, or even our siblings or friends, is SO strong. But I have a question for you (and herein lies the “food for thought”)…

On judgment day, when you are standing waiting to hear your eternal sentence, who will judge you? By whose standard will you be judged?

Will your friend be the one judging whether or not you lived according to their standards and beliefs? Will it be your parents? Fellow believers? Your favorite blogger or author? By who and against what will you be judged? Who and/or what will determine whether or not heaven’s gate is opened or closed to you?

If you are convinced and persuaded that something is okay to do, say, wear, etc. (even if all your friends agree with you), but when you stand before the judgment seat, the one judging you says “guilty” how will you and your friends’ opinions help you? Their opinions will mean as much as yours – 0%. The only one whose opinion and standard means anything is the one who will condemn or set you free. Who is that, and what do they have to say about things?

May each one of us go to the only One whose opinion and standard matters to determine the right or wrongness of everything in our lives, instead of being persuaded and controlled by the opinion and beliefs of those around us.
